是谁杀了威灵顿？他的妈妈是谁？他的爸爸为什么把妈妈给他的信全都藏了起来？这些问题出自英国作家马克·哈登笔下的《深夜小狗神秘事件》。
深夜，邻家小狗威灵顿死在草坪上。他心疼地抱着它，却被主人误以为是凶手。他决定侦破这起谋杀案，并把探案的过程写成一本书。他，是克里斯托弗·约翰·弗朗西斯·布恩。他具有惊人的记忆力与超群的数学天赋。他知道世界上所有国家及其首都的名称，知道7507以内的所有质数（因此整本书的页码全是质数），也能轻松地默算出复杂的数学题，即使是三位乘法，也能在三秒钟内回答你。不过，他习惯于生活在自己的小小世界里，不爱跟人说话，也不懂得去理解他人的想法，独自去过最远的地方是街角的商店。
我非常佩服克里斯托弗，因为他这般小的年纪，就这么勇敢。原来，在克里斯托弗小时候，妈妈就和爸爸离婚了，然后妈妈后去了伦敦，爸爸却一直不告诉他，还骗他说妈妈已经死了。但纸是包不住火的，他在爸爸的房间里找自己写的被爸爸看到后没收的书时，却意外的发现了爸爸告诉自己已经“死去的妈妈”写给自己的43封信。在克里斯托弗德追问下，爸爸承认小狗威灵顿是他杀的。于是，克里斯托弗抑制不住内心对爸爸的恐惧：既然他这种事都做出来了，还有什么事做不出来？所以，他决定自己坐火车去遥远的伦敦找妈妈一起住。他在路上也遇到了许许多多的困难，例如：不知道妈妈的住址、下雨了却没带伞……但最终还是被他征服了，终于找到了“死去的妈妈”。那曾经破裂得四分五裂的一家三口终于又和睦地生活在了一起。当然，克里斯托弗做的一些事情，都是我们现在做不了的。

Then I stopped reading the letter because I felt sick1）.
Mother had not had a heart attack. Mother had not died. Mother had been alive all the time. And Father had lied about this.
I tried really hard to think if there was any other explanation， but I couldn't think of one. And then I couldn't think of anything at all because my brain wasn't working properly.
I felt giddy2）. It was like the room was swinging from side to side， as if it was at the top of a really tall building and the building was swinging backward and forward in a strong wind. But I knew that the room couldn't be swinging backward and forward， so it must have been something which was happening inside my head.
I rolled onto the bed and curled up in a ball.
My stomach hurt.
I don't know what happened then because there is a gap in my memory， like a bit of the tape had been erased. But I know that a lot of time must have passed because later on， when I opened my eyes again， I could see that it was dark outside the window. And I had been sick because there was sick all over the bed and on my hands and arms and face.
But before this I heard Father coming into the house and calling out my name， which is another reason why I know a lot of time had passed.
And it was strange because he was calling， "Christopher ...？ Christopher ...？" and I could see my name written out as he was saying it. Often I can see what someone is saying written out like it is being printed on a computer screen， especially if they are in another room. But this was not on a computer screen. I could see it written really large， like it was on a big advert on the side of a bus. And it was in my mother's handwriting， like this：
And then I heard Father come up the stairs and walk into the room.
He said， "Christopher， what the hell are you doing？" And I could tell that he was in the room， but his voice sounded tiny and far away， like people's voices sometimes do when I am groaning and I don't want them to be near me.

Afterthought of reading the curious incident of the dog in the night-time
This is a different book, because of the different experiences of the different protagonist. This is a detective novel about to finding who killed a poodle dog called Wellington. Actually, it’s a story about a family.
Christopher was a child who had the talent for the math. He was quite strange. He did not like to talk to strangers, and once he even did not talk to other people for 5 weeks. But he liked thinking about math problems, and he was the first student who passed the A-level test and get A grade. He was such a clever boy, but one day in the garden of Mrs.Shears, he found somebody had killed a dog called Wellington with a garden fork, and the dog was belong to Mrs.Shears, who was his neighbor. Then he decided to find out who killed Wellington. This was a very difficult decision because to be a detective is difficult, especially to Christopher, a mum boy.
Unfortunately, his father was against. And he said to Christopher to keep his nose out of other people’s business. But Christopher really like the dog, and he really wanted to know who killed Wellington. So he did the detective work secretly, and he wrote this book at the same time.
He worked really hard. He talked to his neighbors who did not talked to before. And he tried to make conversations with strangers. This was a challenge, and he accepted. The work was favoring. He found many things he did not know before, some clues of this case.
His father told him his mother was died because of something wrong with her heart. But Christopher found something different from which his father said.【《深夜小狗神秘事件》好词好句摘抄】
Unlucky, his detective work was found by his father, because his father found the book he was writing which about the Wellington. His father was angry and confiscate his book. This was a very bad thing because that means he could not write the book anymore. Finally, he decided to take his book back, and then he found something strange and important.
He found some letters from his mother which even made me want to cry. His mother wrote to him once a week, and she really love Christopher, and the all wrote dates was after mother died.
His father was very angry because Christopher went to his room and looked his personal things, he even touched his son. Christopher hated someone touch him, so he picked up his Swiss Army Knife, and hurt his father. Christopher was thinking about the letters, his mother did not die, she was alive, and she lived in London.
His father said he killed Wellington. It was too complicated to Christopher to understand, Even though his father said he was really, really sorry, about killing Wellington, about taking the lie to him about his mother. Maybe he did these things because of his selfishness, but finally he did these things for Christopher, his son.
But Christopher was scared, so he ran away and decided to live with his mother. But mother was lived in London. The road to London is hard for Christopher. But he thought he should do that.
His father was really worried when he could not find his son. But at that time, Christopher might had on the train. When he arrived at London, he found his mother. His mother was very happy to see his lovely son. She decided to protect Christopher, and will not let his father took him away.
At last, his father found Christopher, but Christopher hated him. his father gave him a present which was a lovely dog. Christopher was happy and did not hate his father anymore.
I think this is a good end of the story. Even though Father and Mother were not get well as before, but fortunately, they all loved their son. That was good, that was enough.
