新外语教材 三大变化 强调听说 会看更得会说
根据教育部颁布的《大学英语课程教学要求》，从三个方面对大学本科公共英语教学进行重大改革，包括将原来的以阅读理解为主转变到现在的以听说为主；改革现行的教学模式，将被动模式转变为综合应用为主的个性化和主动式的教学模式；全面提高大学生的英语综合实用能力，使我国的大学生在大学毕业时都能达到基本听懂英文广播、进行简单的英语交流和具备一定程度的写作与翻译能力。
由此，新一代大学英语教材和软件系统也开始“转型”，强调听说领先，从应试型向实用和兴趣型转变。在新教材中，更加注重锻炼学生的听说能力，加强学生的语言规范，而且更具有趣味性。此次面世的新教材，重视开发学习者的自我潜能，培养学生的英语综合应用能力特别是听说能力。大学英语教材首次提出英语教学“以学生为中心”的理念，重点是培养学生的听说能力。而且，教材中课程的设置完全针对了改革后的新四六级英语考试。在改革后的四六级新题型中，听力部分所占比例就由20%提高到35%。而教育部高教司司长张尧学不久前透露，教育部正在设计新的四、六级英语考试方案，新的题型将增加语言的实用能力方面的内容，更突出听、说能力的测试比重。“4年后要使60%以上的大学本科毕业生解决英语听说问题。”张尧学表示。
强调实用 教你如何写求职信
为了更好地体现实用性，新教材内容还根据大学生的实际情感、思想、生活经历“度身选材”，让学生更熟谙西方文化内涵，更适应国际交流的要求。教写求职简历、奖学金申请信和制作英文网页，学会讲英语笑话，熟悉了解西方节日庆典的来龙去脉，掌握重要国际组织的名称、功能，这些以前教材中没有选入的极其实用的知识内容，此次都写入新教材中。
让学生感兴趣 展现语言之美
值得一提的是，新出版的这套教材中，还设有“Enjoy English”部分，第一次将英语教育与学生的兴趣结合在一起，让学生们在学习之外，通过教材感受英语的语言之美。对此，南开大学公外教学部的梁老师深有感触地说，以往学生们大多觉得英语教材枯燥乏味，确实有选材内容与时代脱节、缺少趣味性及缺乏英语经典之作等方面的原因，此次新教材选材理念的转变，有助于改变学生们仅把英语作为语言工具的观念，让学生们在学习英语时能真正体会到语言之美。本版撰文除署名外
建议：大英教材也应有中国味
南开大学公共英语教学部科研中心主任梁伟副教授在赞同新教材转变的同时，梁老师也提出了自己对新一代大学英语教材在选材上的建议——适当增加有关中国本土内容的英文材料介绍。他表示，随着中外文化交流的深入，我们的学生毕业后与外国人打交道的机会越来越多，其中一个现象需要引起注意：不少人虽然可以用流利的英文与外国人沟通，但在介绍我国的风土人情、传统文化时往往“卡壳”。这是因为，目前我国的大学英语教材中，选材全是来自西方的内容，我们更多的是向学生介绍西方的文化和习俗，而压根没有涉及我国的内容。“比如说春节就要到了，中国人说的过年出自何典故？吃饺子、放鞭炮、年夜饭等习俗如何解释？很少有中国学生能用英文向外国朋友解释明白。因此，新的大学英语教材中应该考虑选入有关中西文化差异的内容，让学生懂得如何用英语介绍我们国家的文化习俗，从而避免在交流中出现语言应用上的误解。”
现行大英教材各校学生感受不同
针对现在大学非英语专业所用英语教材的试用情况，记者采访了几所天津高校的在读学生。学生们对教材的评价褒贬不一，同时还有学生对教材的改进提出了个人意见。
天津大学，天津理工大学，天津科技大学等所用教材为外研社01版新视野听力、读写、口语一套三本教材。天大软件系学生乔治说，这套教材很全面，阅读量很大，课文选择也比较符合现在学生水平，对英语水平的提高很有帮助。而同为天大软件的学生张静远则指出，这套教材读写部分词汇量不够大，听力与口语的实用性较差，感觉提高得较慢。理工大大一学生郭蔚然的观点和张静远同学很相似，她提到这套书单词简

Anne Whitney, a sophomore at Colorado State University, first had a problem taking tests when she began college. "I was always well prepared for my tests. Sometimes I studied for weeks before a test. Special university counseling courses try to help students. In these courses, counselors try to help students by teaching them how to manage test anxiety. At some universities, students take tests to measure their anxiety. If the tests show their anxiety is high, the students can take short courses to help them deal with their tension. These courses teach students how to relax their bodies. Students are trained to become calm in very tense situations. By controlling their nervousness, they can let their minds work at ease .Learned information then comes out without difficulty on a test.
An expert at the University of California explains. With almost all students, relaxation and less stress are felt after taking out program. Most of then experience better control during their tests. Almost all have some improvement. With some, the improvement is very great."
