As we all know, the earth is a planet almost covered by water，and it is water made every thing on the earth lively．Water is also one of the important part of our environment．Though，is there really so much water for us to clean，to produce many things，to play with? how much water are there on the earth then?
Most of the water is in the oceans or locked away as ice．The largest volumes of fresh water are stored underground as groundwater，imagine there is only one barrel of water in the world，then there is only a spoon of it on the land，and the water we can use is only a drop of it．Now I have to remind all of you here that the single drop of water is never as Clean as before，it has been polluted severely by our human beings．
There is a very beautiful river in Paris．It is the Seine，it runs across the City，people drink coffee, chat on the bank in the day，at night，they enjoy the beautiful scenery in the boat，songs from the river fly into the Sky made the river more attractive, the Seine is a famous symbol of France；on the west coast of pacific ocean there lies the
modern City Shanghai，another river which used to be a very important transportation route runs through the center of the city，people respected and regard it as"mother"．It is the"suzhou river，but l believe that few of you would sit beside it，people will be scattered by the terrible smell of water when walk by．I have to say it is extremely dirty! And we all know that a lot of beautiful rivers in the world also are Sharing the same fate with suzhou river． Who is the devil? I can't help asking．
Many human activities and their by-products have the potential to pollute water. Please have a look along the banks of the river, large and small industrial enterprises discharge dirty
water, tons of garbage were thrown into the river, the water contained so much that it can't clean itself. Compared with the dramatic development in many sides of Shanghai, the suzhou river has become a black point of the appearance of city.
Fortunately, the government has control the situation now, we are happy to see some parts of the river has become clean again, and we even can find fish sometime.
The unique earth is the only planet full of lives, the water is just like the blood in the active body, protecting water is saving ourselves. Not to waste a single drop of water, otherwise, the only drop of water we could keep in the future would be our tear!
My dear friends, mankind still faces a great difficulty in solving the problems of the environment and development, and there is a grand task to perform and along way to go. The middle school students in China will always cooperate with the young people of the world to protect the environment.

Have you ever bought any food on the train? And do you ask for the receipt after buying it?
Nowadays, all trains in China provide its passengers with receipts for commodities, but 7
years ago, things were quite different.
On 13th of October, 2004, the train T109 from Beijing to Shanghai was speeding on the
railway. A graduate student bought a sausage at 1 yuan on the train, then asked for a
receipt.
“Are you kidding? It‟s just one yuan!” The crew member was surprised.
The student, however, answered in a determined voice, “I paid the money, so I deserve the
receipt.”
“But we never give receipts on the train.‟ As a result, his further request was turned down by
a cold shoulder.
Several days later, the student sued the National Railway Ministry, for not providing
receipts for passengers.
To his dismay, the court turned down the case for lack of evidence. But he, who majored in
law at that time, believed law as a most powerful weapon, so he did not give up. Instead, he
began his journey of collecting first-hand evidence by taking trains and buying commodities
aboard. When his classmates were playing soccer, he was taking the train; When his
classmates were buying food at Mcdonald‟s, he was buying food on the train; When his
classmates were asking girls out, he was asking for the receipts. As he joked, „I was either
taking the train or on the way to take the train.‟
One month later, he appeared in the court again, with newly-collected evidence and a
stronger confidence. And I guess, ladies and gentlemen, you will all cheer for the result

train came out. And whatever we buy on the train now, there‟s a receipt for us.
Outside the court, the student was asked, “How do you make it to the end?” He said, “As a
law student, I root my faith in law. I believe that law is there, to protect every person with no

His words spread a strong faith in law, which is not only a doctrine of a law student, but also
a belief that all citizens ought to hold. It is this faith that initiates the student to resort to law
for a tiny issue; it is this faith that supports him to endure all the exhausting trips when
collecting evidence; It is this faith that makes a seemingly “ridiculous” receipt request legal
and rightful. It is this faith that helps to change our life, enhance our judicial system and
bring social justice.
To many, a receipt of 1 yuan is too small to mention, however rights are to be respected
and law is to be believed in. It all starts with a tiny receipt of 1 yuan, but we get a
monumental case, a new regulation and a bumper harvest in social justice. The bridge that
leads a tiny start to a bumper harvest is faith, the faith in law, rightful and strong.
Our Future: the Garden of One Flower or Many Flowers
I have a friend who just started his career as a teacher in a primary school. Weeks ago, he
asked me to raise a topic for his mid-term composition test. I was curious why he chose me
to give a topic, because he is a teacher himself. He said that he wanted something the
students can really show their different ideas. Without thinking, I told him to let his students
write about what they would do if they were given one million US dollars. My friend left with
satisfaction, and I fell into my old memories.
It reminded me of my old days in primary school. We were learning to do narration in the
fifth grade's Chinese class. Our teacher required us to write a composition with the topic
"My Most Unforgettable Day" with our real experience.
When papers came back, half of the students wrote about the first day they came to school.
The rest of the compositions were all about picking money on the streets and giving it to
policemen, or helping a blind man cross the street. Of course I was among them. But I
remember very clearly, that one student, only one student gave something different. He
wrote about the day that he first kissed a girl. I read his composition. After all these years, I
can't recite every word, but I dare to say, that even Shakespeare, may not be able to write
as equally good when he was 11 years old. The composition was written out of real
experience and genuine emotions. Contrary to those fake stories, it sounds real and natural.

That was 15 years ago. When you read those compositions, and you feel that half of our

A few days ago, my friend sent me an e-mail of all the copies of his students' compositions.
I have to say, I was sadly disillusioned.

wanted to support the panda protection project, some wanted to buy books to enlarge their
knowledge. One student even said that he would like to spend his one million dollars on the
effort to cure AIDS. I was more astonished to find that a ten- year-old child knew what AIDS
really is.
We all have been kids, and we knew what we had once wanted. But, there was no
composition about spending the money on video games, nice clothes, chocolates,
ice-creams and expensive toys. Like 15 years ago, students won't tell the truth of their
hearts.
It has always been our dream to open our children's hearts. We encourage them to
describe their dreams, and acted as if we are ready to accept their thoughts. But the fact is
that, children are scared by the zero marked on their papers. They are trained to say what
we want to hear.
People compare children to flowers of tomorrow. And parents dream about the scenery that
roses, tulips, daffodils flourish in the future. But down the road we are going on, in the future,
or the future of future, only one kind of flower can be found. And that's the flower we like
most.

When I was in the primary school, I have a dream. I want to invent a device which
could bring you from one place to another in no time at all. When I was in the secondary
school, my dream was to study in my ideal university. And when eventually I got into the
university, my dream was to graduate.
How pathetic! When we grow up, we dream less and become more realistic. Why?
Why do we have to change our dreams, so, so in order to let it be "fulfilled"? Why do we
have to surrender to the so-called "reality"? What IS the reality actually?
Ladies and gentlemen, the reality is not real. It is a barrier keeping us from all the
possible fantasies. Flying, for example, had been a dream to mankind for thousands of
years. A hundred years ago, "man could not fly" was still regarded as the "reality". Now if
that was really the reality, what did the Wright brothers do? How did some of you get to
Macau? Only when we believe that the reality is not real can we soar with our dreams.
People say that our future is a battle between the reality and our dreams. And if,
unfortunately, Mr. Reality wins this war, then I see no future of mankind at all. AIDS will
never be curable as this IS the reality; People living in the undeveloped countries will suffer
from starvation forever as this IS the reality; 4)Disputes among different countries would
never be settled as this misunderstandings and intolerance IS the reality.
Ladies and gentlemen, how many of you have a dream of being able to make a lot of

演讲稿：Never Lose the Vision of Reality
Talking about dreams and future, I would say, dreams should not be too far from reality.
Detaching from reality, lacking solid and practical actions, any future plan, and dream
project will be nothing short of daydreaming, or, at most, well-intentioned thinking.
Here I am reminded of the year 2000, when 191 member states of the United Nations held
a World Summit Conference, which made a declaration known as the Millennium
Development Goals. The goals for 2015, which all the member states pledged to meet,
were such as elimination of hunger and poverty, drastic reductions in child mortality rates,
reversing the spread of AIDS and other deadly diseases…etc
Now, 6 years later, almost half way to the final year of 2015, do we see some signs of
realizing the pledged goals? Today, half the world---nearly three billion people, still live on
less than two U.S. dollars a day; in the world today 270 million children have n access to
safe water, about 11 million children die before they reach the age of five each year. Have
we come to harness the spread of AIDS? The answer is also no, and indeed is spreading
faster and wider than before.
What is even worse, in the wake of the Iraqi War, there is the nuclear crisis in Iran, and
unsettled situation in many places. The vision of us young people may be limited, but the
limited vision we do have and care about everyday cannot change our conviction that our
world does not seem to promise a very bright future before us.
Who is to blame for all this? Of course we can blame the governments: how disappointing
they all seem to be: in one moment they are pledging to build a better future for people, and
in another moment, they ignite wars killing more innocent people. But don‟t you think that
we ordinary folks should also take some responsibilities for, say, elimination of poverty?
When we quickly rush to schools, work places, or places of entertainment, how many times
do we stop to hand over some food to the deprived on the streets? When we are browsing
the newspaper for the news about what is going in this world, how often do we stop to think
about the actual ways we can help the people who are suffering from various disastrous
situations? In fact how much have we done to help those who are in need just around us?
Dreams are certainly beautiful and indispensable to our life, for they give us inspiration and
motivation. Plans for the future are certainly necessary, for they provide us with goals and
guides. But what is most important is actions on a day-to-day basis. To make our dreams
come true, to realize our future goals, we need to base our vision on reality and we need to
put our words into our deeds. In other words, while human beings should be, first and
foremost, idealists and thinkers, we should, all the more be realists and practical doers.

From Walls to Bridges
I'm studying in a city famous for its walls. All visitors to my city are amazed by the imposing sight of the city walls, silhouetted by the setting sun with gold and shining lines. With old, cracked bricks patched with lichen, the walls are weather-beaten guards, standing still for centuries in protecting the city.
Our ancestors liked to build walls. They built walls in Beijing, Xi'an, Nanjing and many other cities, and they built the Great Wall, which snakes through half of our country. They built walls to ward off enemies and evil spirits. This tradition has been maintained to this day as we still have many parks and schools walled off from the public. I grew up at the foot of the city walls, and I've loved them since my childhood. For a long time, walls were one of the most natural things in the world.
My perception, however, changed after a hiking trip to the Eastern Suburbs, a scenic area of my city. My classmates and I were walking with some international students. As we walked out of the city, we found ourselves flanked by taller and taller trees, which formed a huge canopy above our heads. Suddenly an international student asked me, "Where is the entrance to the Eastern Suburbs?"
"We're already in the Eastern Suburbs," I replied.
He seemed taken aback, "I thought you Chinese have walls for everything." His remark set off a heated debate. At one point, he likened our walled cities to "jails," while I insisted that the Eastern
Suburbs were one of the many places in China that had no walls.
That debate had no winners, but I did learn a lot from this international student. For instance, he told me that universities like Oxford and Cambridge were not surrounded by walls; the campuses were just part of the cities. I have to admit that we do have many walls in China, and as we are developing our country, we must carefully examine them, whether they are physical or intangible. We will keep some walls but tear down those that impede China's development.
Let me give you an example. A year ago, when I was working on a term paper, I needed a book on business law and found a copy in the law school library. However, the librarian turned down my request with a cold shoulder, saying, "You can't borrow this book, you are not a student here." In the end, I had to spend 200 Yuan buying a copy; meanwhile, the copy in law school was gathering dust on the shelf.
