One morning, a hare and a tortois meet in a forest,so they begin to talk.
H: Good morning. Mr Tortoise.
T: Oh, it"s you. Mr Hare. Good morning!
H: What are you doing?
T: I"m running.
H:Running? Ha ha ha! Can you run? Your legs are too short!
T: Of course I can.
H:My legs are long. I can run faster than you.

直接引语和间接引语的用法
引述别人的话有两种方式：一是使用引号引出人家的原话,这叫做直接引语；一是用自己的话把人家的话转述出来,这叫做间接引语.例如：

约翰说："我要和父亲到伦敦去."（引号内是直接引语）
John said that he was going to London with his father.
约翰说,他要和他父亲去伦敦.（宾语从句是间接引语）
由直接引语变为间接引语,分以下情况：
1． 直接引语是陈述句时
间接引语为that引导的宾语从句（口语中that可以省略）,主句的引述动词主要有say ,tell, repeat, explain, think等.

2.直接引语是疑问句时
间接引语为陈述语序：主句的谓语动词say 改为ask,或改为wonder, do not know, want to know, be not sure, be puzzled等.
（1） 一般疑问句或反意疑问句变为if (whether)引导的宾语从句.
She said, "Do you often come here to read newspapers?"
→She asked me if (或whether)I often went there to read newspapers.
She asked me , "You have seen the film, haven"t you?"

（2） 选择疑问句变为whether….or 宾语从句.

(5)如果直接引语中含有since, when, while 引导的表示过去时间的状语从句,在变为间接引语时,只改变主句中的谓语动词,从句的一般过去时则不变.如：

One of the biggest movies of all time,"Jurassic Park" is the story of regenerated dinosaurs.John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) is the owner of a newly developed dinosaur park,but after an employee is killed in an accident he needs to satisfy lawyer"s questions by bringing in a team to prove the park is safe.The team includes dinosaur digger Alan Grant (Sam Neill),his girlfriend,paleontologist Ellie Satler (Laura Dern),mathematician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum),and lawyer Donald Gennaro (Martin Ferrero).Another of Hammond"s employees,a computer technician named Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight) has been hired by an outside organisation to steal dinosaur embryos.
Based on the Michael Crichton book,the stars of "Jurassic Park" are definitely the dinosaurs.There"s a lot of people who deserve credit for bringing these extinct animals to brilliant on screen life,but the main four are Stan Winston,Michael Lantieri,Dennis Muren,and Phil Tippett.Mixed with some unbelievably great sound effects,these dinosaurs are some of the most stunning visual effects I"ve ever seen and rightfully earned an Academy Award.
The king of the dinosaurs,the T-Rex,was an amazing creature to see,but surprisingly it was outdone by the velociraptors.These raptors provided some very suspenseful moments,and are dinosaurs that people will never forget.
The main complaint I"ve read is that the human characters had no development and that the scenes that didn"t feature dinosaurs were boring.This surprised me since it was directed by Steven Spielberg.In my opinion,they didn"t need to be more developed because "Jurassic Park" is one of those movies that just doesn"t need that much.As for being bored,I never was.I knew it was going to get exciting,and the buildup was great thanks in part to the characters,the special effects,and the John Williams score.Unfortunately,the dialogue was cheesy in several spots perhaps explaining why people didn"t like the dino-free scenes.
Watching "Jurassic Park" always takes me back to June the day it opened in theaters.Sitting in that dark theater,I was fully entertained for over two hours.It"s got humor and suspense.Movies like this fuel the imagination and offer an incredibly real looking picture of what dinosaur life was like.It also has a message about science being perverse and going against nature,which seems like a very timely issue with the subject of real life cloning.This movie is 100% fun,and though not the best film of 1993 (That goes to "The Fugitive"),it is my favorite movie of the year.

An Experiment and a comfortable Weekend
My friend XX has been looking forward the comfortable weekend since a month ago.
Last Sunday, he was busy doing his work which his teacher had arranged for him to fulfill for the experiment this week. It was an important one and he had prepared for it for weeks. As a matter of fact, he had been obliged to work day and night for it recently and he had no any leisure weekends at all.
Preparing for an experiment is as dry as a chip. Working was fussy to get ready and hardworking days were difficult to endure. He had to look up literature data in a lot of published articles; he had to work at the procedure for it; he had to write a syllabus of it; and he had to do quite a few works ahead of time. Those who happened to meet him said that he was much thinner than they saw him the last time. Nevertheless, as a learner, what should he do? He had no choice but, hard as it was, to immerse himself in it, longing for a good result. Fortunately, everything was ready, only to wait for the experiment. What made him gratified was it came to the end at last this Friday.
He was feeling free from the strained preparation as if relieved of a heavy load, just as he thought how to spend his drawing weekends that he had expected nearly every week, it was so happened that a friend of his, the most intimate, who he had never see for years, dropped in before the day of the experiment. Because he must do something for the final spurting, they only greeted each other and appointed to enjoy ourselves for a cozy weekend together after his experiment had accomplished. What is the most important was that he hoped to learn his good news of it.
His friends visiting released his tiredness and boringness. He was stirred by thirstiness for the day but encouraged by reuniting with his friend. He became more confident to do the experiment well
Having checked all he had prepared, he was in high spirits to enter the laboratory on Friday morning. His teacher was satisfied with what he had done ahead of schedule. He paid careful attention to every step without thinking the coming weekend. Everything was getting along well. When the results which he had expected to get came true, he jumped up with delight. It was for this experiment that he could realize his ideal for stepping into a good position.
In the evening, he came to a sauna for the first time in his life. Sitting in the room full of steam, he enjoyed an unspeakable relaxation. He was so entertained there that he felt somewhat sleepy. He dreamed that he was sitting at a gigantic garden with his friend on the Saturday morning. In the soft sunlight, they were talking freely to their heart"s content about their future while drinking something delicious. What a wonderful dream.
That night, he had a sound sleep in bed. He must conserve strength and store up energy for the next day with his friends to enjoy their comfortable real weekend.
